Just opted to write about my new laptop and realized the last post was quite a while ago.

Never fear! It’s a big delay but I have a few posts in the works. I’ve been using Windows 7 for a bit now so I have an impressions post on that coming up. I’ll add to it a quick review of my new netbook soon. Once I finish up on bogeypro I’ll be doing some big shifts in the computer world at the house here and I’ll post some about that.

Oh, and of course I’ll finally throw some pictures of the new place up once Jess and I get off our asses and hang some art. We’ve finally got some stuff on a checklist which makes the work just fly by (I love crossing things off). We’ve just finished our balcony and we’ll be moving inside soon. I’m kind of waiting on getting my new couch to really post, so we’ll see about that soon.

Anyway, I’ll try to step it up this week.

In building my new PC there was never really a question about whether I would choose a laptop or a desktop. There was a question, however, on whether I would hold back on going big on the desktop so I could pick up a laptop with it. Nuts to that. These little netbooks are coming down now and $350 makes this a really great accessible solution for me.

I’m not planning to do any work on this guy, I just want something I can use to surf around in bed or while watching a movie on the couch. Jess and I have been out and about lately too and it struck me that it would be nice to have something nice and little that I can use to keep up on all the internet porn with. It’ll be nice to have an easy way to carry around a few movies in case things get slow too.

I also picked up the 2gb memory upgrade from newegg for $25 shipped. I plan to throw Windows 7 on it right away so I’ll need the space

So I know most of you came here for the digg widget, so you’ll be happy to see that it’s back!  Actually, it’s been back for a little while now.  I did away with the random article in favor of a sort of “epalla widget”.  I know that both are running a little bit slow right now – I’m going to have the digg/reddit widgets caching every hour or so which should speed everything up.  I’m pulling from the RSS feeds now instead of the widgets.

I’ve got a few updates planned, but my time has been completely consumed with work, finding Jessica a new car and a new (paying, woo!) side project that I’ve taken on.  I’ll post more about the car and the side project later.

Now I know I haven’t been in here forever because I’ve got 3 plugin updates and a WordPress update to install.  Boo.

It’s finally finished!

OK, so the goal here was to try to build slowly, waiting for deals on each individual component as they came up. For about a month I was all over Slickdeals and FatWallet waiting for the best picks. I was doing well for a little while, but towards the end I got anxious and did a few impulse buys to finish out the system.
