Or Matt’s Movies in Motion! Gay I know, but I mostly like the acronym “MMM”. Basically I’ve been watching a lot of movies lately, and the reason is that I take my little netbook down to the workout room and watch them while I bike. I only do about 45 minutes a session (give or take 10 minutes) but I can get through a movie every two days. I’ve wanted to start posting reviews for a while now, so maybe I can take care of two birds with one stone here and possibly stay motivated on the bike.
For starters I’ll post my weight with each review. If it doesn’t go down I’ll probably stop doing that and just post the reviews
.
Let’s see how long this one lasts!
I should mention here that my rating scale is reflective of the type of movie I’m watching. I might give Ace Ventura: Pet Detective the same rating as the Graduate, but that doesn’t mean I consider the two films to be on equal grounds in quality. My ratings will purely be about how much I enjoyed the movie.
By the way – on my latest trip down to AZ to visit Josh I watched movies there and back on the 2.5 hour flight without recharging the netbook. I fuckin love this thing.
So I’m redesigning ListHippo (it’s gonna be blue/tan and pretty web 2.0-ey. A lot of inspiration from GoodBarry because I think it’s really clean and nice and – that’s another story). Anyway, I’ll usually get little ideas about a design that I like and want to use, but it’s tough to build an entire framework around those little ideas. I usually end up looking around all kinds of sites and checking out smashingmag and templates and stuff to try to find good ways to round it out. In doing so, I came across this this gem:
If I ever have to describe “web 2.0″ to somebody ever again, I’m pointing them here. It’s so web 2.0 that it almost ceases to be anything else. Don’t get me wrong it’s good and functional, but that may be the most forgettable website ever.
Seriously.

I was going to write this article, but Flaherty has done it much more eloquently and thoroughly than I ever could. I am beyond sick of ignorant idiots spouting bullshit about the Federal Reserve.
On these damn churches started at 8:00 this morning. Then they banged away for a full half an hour . They don’t play music, they just smash random bells as loud as possible. Do you think I’d get anywhere with calling in a noise complaint against a church? I mean there’s no way anyone else could get away with making this much fucking noise.
And oh good, after a 13 minute break they’ve just started up again. I’M UP YOU FUCKERS!
Don’t forget – episode 6×01 of the Office aired last night. It was, in true office form, excellent.
I’m tinkering with my file server a lot right now, which means I’ve got a big mess of wires behind the drive cage. Plugging in and unplugging drives can be a total bitch, but not today. Today, in the darkest, most inaccessible corner of my server case I needed to plug in two SATA cables. I was cocky, and decided to try to do it without unplugging everything in the way first. And I’m glad I did.
Miraculously, both plugs found their mark and went in on the first try. It was like my fiddling fingers were guided by divine will. A tear came to my eye. And then the oven dinged and told me my California Pizza Kitchen Sicilian pizza is ready.
.. It is a good day.
Best theme I’ve seen. It’s clean, simple and it looks great. I don’t really know why I’m posting this, but it’s the truth. Of course, epalla v8 is better, but only by a little bit.
Apparently IE (including IE7) is retarded when it comes to live downloads from a database. This problem manifests itself in particular when it comes to downloading PDFs. That means when you try to load a pdf out of a database with the following incredibly common code snippet:
header("Content-length: $size"); header("Content-type: $type"); header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=$name");
you can “Save Target As” with IE but not actually open it directly from a link. It works fine in Firefox. After much obnoxious tinkering and searching, I discovered that adding:
header("Cache-control: private"); header("Pragma: public");
just makes it magically work.
I’ve updated the comment template so it doesn’t look like poop, and I’ve cached the digg/reddit links. It updates every hour so the digg/reddit links won’t be 100% up-to-date but that’s ok. It should help the loading times still.
Also – sorry that my reddit feed has so much porn right now. There was good shit out there today.
Just opted to write about my new laptop and realized the last post was quite a while ago.
Never fear! It’s a big delay but I have a few posts in the works. I’ve been using Windows 7 for a bit now so I have an impressions post on that coming up. I’ll add to it a quick review of my new netbook soon. Once I finish up on bogeypro I’ll be doing some big shifts in the computer world at the house here and I’ll post some about that.
Oh, and of course I’ll finally throw some pictures of the new place up once Jess and I get off our asses and hang some art. We’ve finally got some stuff on a checklist which makes the work just fly by (I love crossing things off). We’ve just finished our balcony and we’ll be moving inside soon. I’m kind of waiting on getting my new couch to really post, so we’ll see about that soon.
Anyway, I’ll try to step it up this week.
